Here’s What We Included In Our DIY Emergency Kit

05.04.20

Emergency DIY Kit Being in quarantine for more than a month now has made us think about a lot of things and one of those is how prepared are we really for emergencies and unexpected situations like the one we are currently facing?

The answer over a month ago was not really. While we are probably better equipped than most people, we still don’t have all the things we would really need in an emergency situation.

We realize that we are probably not the only people who have been thinking about this lately and since Begad has some knowledge in survival and emergency preparedness, we wanted to make a list of some of the things we would need and share it with you so you can build your own kit at home. We obviously want to hope and pray for the best, but the reality is we are going to face hardships and new challenges in this life and the best thing we can do is to be prepared for them when they arise.

Here is what we included (or are working to include) in our kit:

  • Water purifier
  • First aid kit
  • Emergency blanket
  • Lighter
  • Matches
  • Flint & steel
  • Knife
  • Hatchet
  • Flare gun/flares
  • Duct tape
  • Sewing supplies
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Baby wipes
  • Flashlights/batteries
  • Gloves
  • Glow sticks
  • Rope/550 cord
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Water
  • Non perishable food

Once you gather the things you need, put everything in a backpack except for food and water. Only the bare necessities should go in the backpack. Please note: If there ever was a situation where you would truly have to survive on your own in the wilderness, you would need a lot more than what is mentioned in this list.

Just so you know, we are not experts in emergency preparedness. This is simply what we have put together based on our prior knowledge and research, and thought we would share. If you have anything you would add to this list, let us know in the comments below.
