These bone-chilling nights have us cuddled up on the couch with our fuzzy socks and blankets, craving a cup of hot chocolate…Except not your ordinary cup of hot chocolate.
Call us weird, but we actually prefer colder drinks (well, except when we’re sick). Yes, we are the loco people who drink bubble tea slushies and frappuccinos in the dead of winter. Guess that makes us total rebels ✊
So if you’re like us or just want to spice up a traditional drink, this frozen hot chocolate recipe will do the trick.
It’s very simple to make and you most likely already have the necessary ingredients in your kitchen.

FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE
Ingredients
- 1 packet Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa Mix
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons mini marshmallows (Trader Joe's Vegan Marshmallows) divided
- ice cubes
Instructions
-
Mix the hot chocolate packet and milk together in a cup using a spoon. If you’re using a nutribullet, you can mix it in the cup you’re going to use.
-
In the blender or nutribullet cup, add 2 tablespoons of the mini marshmallows, 6 ice cubes or fill up other half of the blending cup.
-
Blend.
-
Pour mixture into your cup of choice. We used mason jar mugs that you can get here.
-
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the mini marshmallows, or however much you prefer (we’re not judging).
-
Stick a straw in (we used these fun paper straws).
-
Serve immediately. Quick, before it melts!
Note: If you’re throwing a party, you can blend the mixture according to the instructions and then divide it up into smaller mason jars. You can also double the recipe (ex. Use 1 cup of milk instead of ½, 2 packets, etc.).
FYI: We chose to blend marshmallows into the mixture because it adds a chewy texture to the drink, but if you’re not into that then go ahead and skip that step!
